This course is a
continuation of Physics for Engineers I (PHY 2048-H). It offers an
introduction to electricity, magnetism, and optics for
students with good preparation in mathematics at the level of
the calculus. Topics include the basic phenomena of
electricity and magnetism, electric cIRSCuits, Maxwell's
equations, electromagnetic waves, the properties of light,
geometric and wave optics. Some topics will be treated in more
depth and/or more extensively than in Physics for Engineers II
(PHY 2049).

|
Note: PHY
2048-H, PHY 2048-LH, and MAC 2312 are all prerequisites
(students are encouraged to take MAC 2313), and PHY 2049-LH is
a corequisite; in addition, IDS 1110-H
is a prerequisite/corequisite for all Honors Courses,
including PHY 2049-H.
