Building &
Evaluating Your Capstone Project |
Students pursuing an Honors Diploma will complete and
evaluate a Capstone Project based on the following building
blocks:
The student selects
the general topic based on personal interests and goals. |
The bibliography
that will guide the project is developed in a joint effort by
the student and the faculty mentor. |
The precise topic
for the project is determined by the student in collaboration
with the faculty mentor. |
The details of the
entire project are designed by the student and approved by the
faculty mentor. |
Criteria for grading
the Capstone Project are established in a collaborative effort
by the student and faculty mentor. |
The student pursues
a planned individual learning experience, following the
bibliography, while meeting regularly with the faculty mentor.
The student maintains a log, journal, or other written record
documenting the processes contributing to the completion of the
Capstone Project. |
The student
concludes the Capstone Project with a presentation to an
academic audience that could consist of fellow Honors Students,
the general student population, or other venues as determined by
the student and the faculty mentor. |
The student prepares
a written record of the Capstone Project, documenting the actual
processes that took place and evaluating the overall value of
the project and its outcomes. The faculty mentor reviews all
student materials and documents, including proposal,
bibliography, journal or log of execution, public presentation,
and written evaluation, and then awards a grade based on the
criteria established at the beginning of the Capstone Project. |
