A former student of IRSC, Sherry went ahead to University of South Florida to receive her Bachelor's degree in Zoology. She continued to get her Clinical Laboratory Master's from University of North Dakota.

Sherry has been a Full-time Biology faculty member since 2005.  Classes taught include lecture and laboratory courses in Anatomy and Physiology, General Biology I, Life Science, and Microbiology  Biography continued...

Sherry has also been active in sharing her Student Engagement activities by presenting at the 2007 Professional Enhancement Day Seminar along with her colleague Dr. Judith Megaw.

Enhancing Student Engagement

One of Sherry's student engagement activities include planning a debate for her students to learn more about certain topics. In 2007 the case study she used was The Benign Hamburger.

According to feedback Sherry gets, the students enjoy preparing for and doing the debate  The most common comment is that it forces them to research the subject much deeper than they normally would have.  Sherry also encourages them to dress the part  (company execs to come in business attire, etc.)  The students get really involved in the debate. In 2007, the  protestors  make t-shirts, signs and pamphlets and had a great discussion in WEBCT going.
