MUSICAL THEATER
Among the highlights of the IRCC performing arts series are the mainstage musicals. Our musical theater productions unite all of the Fine Arts area disciplines--vocal music, instrumental music, drama, and dance--and provide a high level of discipline and training for students. IRCC musicals have spanned the gamut of variety and style as illustrated by some of our recent productions:

IRCC “COMPANY” VOCALISTS
Since its inception, the IRCC “Company” has utilized ensembles of various voicings ranging in size from 6 to over 16. Currently, the “Company” is comprised of a small mixed ensemble as well as a ladies ensemble numbering a dozen.
In addition to costumed and choreographed production numbers, the singers present a variety of jazz and pop standard, top-40 selections, ethnic music, show tunes, and an occasional venture into the classical realm. Performing popular music that spans our century, the “Company” familiarizes young singers with past and present popular styles and provides vocal training appropriate to these performance genres. The production numbers are generally designed within the department and are backed up by professional arrangements featuring the IRCC Jazz Ensemble.
Vocal Department Opportunities
The IRCC Vocal Department places a high priority upon the vocal development of all students involved, regardless of their performing strengths. High quality instruction emphasizes proper vocal production, vocal health, and recital experience. To encourage young performers, IRCC vocalists are required to participate in monthly departmental recitals, as well as formal public recitals each semester which greatly assist vocal development and confidence. As our schedule permits, we travel off-campus to observe area professional productions. The Vocal Department assists in finding students club and church jobs off-campus, and provides on-campus performance opportunities with a variety of instrumental ensembles (Salsa Band, Trombone Choir, Chamber Jazz Ensembles, etc.). Many of our singers are recipients of music and theatre scholarships, and many “Company” members have gone on to careers in teaching, theatre, and a variety of professional/club ventures.
